Major Campaign Announcement for America's Largest Township: Nassau GOP Picks Ferretti for Hempstead Town Supervisor, Clavin for County Court

Nassau County, NY – The Town of Hempstead Republican Committee has designated Nassau Legislator John Ferretti as its candidate for Town of Hempstead Supervisor in the 2025 elections and the Nassau County Republican Committee picked Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin as its choice for County Court. The selection of Ferretti ensures that residents of America’s largest township, which boasts a population of approximately 800,000 residents, will continue to be well represented by a tax fighter who has helped to make Nassau the safest county in the country.  At the same time, a popular Town Supervisor and accomplished lawyer, Clavin has been picked as a candidate for a seat on the County Court.  The announcement was made by Nassau County Republican Committee Chairman, Joseph G. Cairo, Jr.  Attending the announcement were Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, County Clerk Maureen O’Connell, Nassau Comptroller Elaine Phillips, District Attorney Anne Donnelly, County Legislature Presiding Officer Howard Kopel, Oyster Bay Supervisor Joe Saladino, North Hempstead Supervisor Jen DeSena, Glen Cove Mayor Pam Panzenbeck, as well as Members of the Hempstead Town Board, including Town Clerk Kate Murray, and Council Members Dennis Dunne, Tom Muscarella, Missy Miller, and Laura Ryder.  Additionally, Republican members of the Nassau County Legislature and other elected officials from Nassau’s towns and cities were in attendance.

“During this time of year, the Town of Hempstead Republican Committee nominates its candidates for public office,” stated Cairo. “As we made our final local election candidate selections, Don Clavin expressed a desire to serve the public in a new capacity, wishing to run for a seat on the County Court.  At the same time, Nassau Legislator John Ferretti has distinguished himself as a County Legislator, holding the line on taxes and even reducing the tax burden for Nassau homeowners.  What’s more, Ferretti has played a critical role in making Nassau the safest county in our nation, providing Nassau’s crime fighters with the technology and other resources needed to excel in their assigned tasks.”

“I am thankful to Chairman Cairo, the men and women of the Nassau Republican Committee, in addition to my colleagues in government, for the opportunity to run for the office of Town of Hempstead Supervisor in November,” said Ferretti.  “I am eager to continue my work, controlling taxes and enhancing local services for neighbors.  As a Nassau County Legislator for over 7 years, I have fought hard for taxpayers, holding the line on taxes every year, and even reducing the tax levy in 2022 by $70 million.  I will bring the same dedication to taxpayer relief as Town of Hempstead Supervisor.”

In addition to his impressive record of taxpayer responsiveness, Ferretti has been a leader in the field of public safety, which is highlighted by his work to stop anti-Semitism and all hate crimes, enhance resources for police and protect women.  In specific, the legislator supported investments in police technology, including “ShotSpotter,” which detects and pinpoints locations of gunfire in Nassau.  Additionally, Ferretti’s backing of license plate readers, enhanced law enforcement communications equipment and gun buyback programs, has made our region safer.

Legislator Ferretti has also voted for two landmark local laws in 2024.  The “Fairness for Women and Girls in Sports” Local Law is an important measure to stop biological males from competing in girls’ athletic events.  Additionally, the “Mask Transparency Act” is directed at stopping individuals who seek to obscure their identities while threatening or intimidating groups of individuals or to conceal their faces while committing other crimes.

“Again, I want to take this opportunity to thank Nassau Republican Committee Chairman Joe Cairo and the entire Committee for the confidence that they have placed in me,” concluded Ferretti.  “My pledge to the residents of the Town of Hempstead is to continue my fight for tax relief, great services and safe communities.”
